Lesson 1: The Number System

  • Core Concepts: Introduction to place value and reading large numbers.

  • Skill Building: Creating the smallest and largest possible numbers using a given set of digits.

  • Four Operations: Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

  • Roman Numerals: Understanding and converting Roman numerals.

  • Exam Focus: Mental arithmetic speed and structured word problems.

Lesson 2: Integers & The Number Line

  • Core Concepts: Introduction to positive and negative numbers.

  • Visualizing Math: Using the number line to compare and order integers.

  • Operations: Adding and subtracting negative numbers.

  • Exam Focus: Word problems involving temperature, depth, and bank balances.

Lesson 3: Fractions

  • Core Concepts: Understanding fractions, types of fractions (proper, improper, and mixed numbers), and representing them on a number line.

  • Simplifying: Finding and creating equivalent fractions.

  • Operations: Adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing with both like and unlike denominators.

  • Advanced Skills: Comparing fractions, "reverse fractions" (finding the whole from a part), and practical application word problems.

Lesson 4: Decimals

  • Core Concepts: Introduction to decimals and the decimal place value system.

  • Visualizing Math: Locating and comparing decimals on a number line.

  • Operations: Adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing decimals.

  • Exam Focus: Solving real-world decimal word problems quickly and accurately.

Lesson 5: Percentages

  • Core Concepts: Understanding percentages as "parts of 100".

  • Conversions: Effortlessly converting between Fractions, Decimals, and Percentages (FDP).

  • Operations: Finding percentages of amounts and percentage change.

  • Exam Focus: Multi-step percentage word problems.

Module 2: Proportions, Values, & Measurements

Lesson 6: Ratios & Proportions

  • Core Concepts: Understanding ratios, simplifying ratios, and dividing quantities into a given ratio.

  • Proportions & Rates: Unitary method (finding the cost/value of "one" to find the value of many).

  • Comparing: Analysing and comparing different ratios.

  • Exam Focus: Real-world word problems on recipes, sharing, and scale.

Lesson 7: Money, Time, & Calendar

  • Money: Calculating spending, change, and basic financial math.

  • Time: Mastering 12-hour vs. 24-hour clocks, calculating time intervals, and reading timetables.

  • The Calendar: Days in a month, leap years, and calculating dates.

  • Exam Focus: Multi-step time and money word problems.

Lesson 8: Conversion of Units

  • Core Concepts: Understanding metric units of measurement (Length, Mass, Capacity).

  • Conversions: Converting between units (e.g., grams to kilograms, milliliters to liters, centimeters to meters).

  • Exam Focus: Word problems requiring unit conversion before solving.

Module 3: Geometry & Shapes

Lesson 9: 2D & 3D Shapes

  • 2D Shapes: Properties of regular and irregular polygons.

    • Triangles: Equilateral, Isosceles, Scalene, and Right-angled.
