Data Protection Policy: Awful Maths
1. Our Commitment
At Awful Maths, we take your privacy seriously. This policy explains how we collect, store, and protect the personal data of our students, parents, and tutors. We operate in full compliance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
2. What Data We Collect
We only collect the information necessary to provide our tuition services effectively. This includes:
· Contact Information: Names, email addresses, and phone numbers for parents and students.
· Educational Data: Academic progress, school year, and exam goals to tailor our teaching.
· Administrative Data: Payment records and session logs necessary for our service.
3. How We Use Your Data
We process your data strictly to:
· Manage your bookings and provide high-quality tuition.
· Communicate important updates regarding your child's lessons.
· Fulfill our legal and contractual obligations.
· Improve our service quality through internal monitoring.
4. Your Rights
You are in control of your data. As a "data subject," you have the right to:
· Be Informed: Know how and why we use your data.
· Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
· Rectify: Ask us to correct any inaccurate information.
· Erasure: Request that we delete your data when it is no longer needed.
· Object: Opt-out of non-essential communications (like marketing).
5. Keeping Your Data Secure
We treat your data like a high-stakes exam—we take every precaution to protect it.
· Access Control: Only authorized staff have access to student information.
· Encryption: We use secure digital platforms to store and transmit data.
· Retention: We only keep your data for as long as it is necessary to provide our service, after which it is securely deleted or shredded.
6. Data Breaches
In the unlikely event of a data breach, we have a clear incident response plan. If a breach poses a risk to your privacy, we will notify you and the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) without delay.
7. Policy Updates
We review this policy annually. Any significant changes will be communicated to you directly to ensure you are always aware of how your information is being handled.

Refund & Cancellation Policy: Awful Maths
At Awful Maths, we focus on results. We are committed to providing high-quality, high-intensity tuition that makes a real difference to your child’s grades. Please read our policy below before purchasing.
1. Our "Results-First" Approach
Because our group lessons involve securing a spot for your child in a small, dedicated cohort, we do not offer refunds for lessons once they have been booked and processed.
By signing up, you are reserving a seat in a limited-capacity group. We provide a guaranteed minimum of 8 lessons per month, and our tutors prepare specifically for each session. Because our costs (including tutor time and administrative overheads) are fixed regardless of attendance, we cannot offer refunds for missed classes.
2. Monthly Subscription & Cancellations
Your tuition is managed as a monthly commitment of £45 per month or for A-Level tuition £90 per month
· Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time. To avoid being charged for the following month, please ensure you cancel before your next billing date.
· Access: Once your payment is processed, your spot is locked in. If you choose to cancel mid-month, your child will remain eligible to attend all remaining sessions in that billing period, but no partial refunds will be provided for sessions not attended.
3. Duplicate Payments
We are human. If an accidental duplicate payment occurs due to a technical error, we will, of course, refund the overcharge immediately. Please contact us with your transaction details, and we will rectify this right away.
4. Technical Issues
Our lessons are delivered online. While we utilize reliable platforms, we understand that occasional technical glitches can happen.
· If a widespread platform outage prevents us from delivering a scheduled lesson, we will either provide a catch-up session or credit your account.
· If you experience an individual technical issue (e.g., connection problems at home), please let us know immediately so we can help you troubleshoot for the next session.
5. Discretionary Exceptions
We are reasonable people. While our policy is firm to ensure the sustainability of our small-group model, we reserve the right to issue a refund or credit in truly exceptional, documented circumstances. These decisions are made at our sole discretion and are not guaranteed.
